Britto Charette is proud to announce this year’s winners of our firm’s VOLTERRA STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP. Aspiring architects Taylor Myers and Finley Booth have won the inaugural prize. The scholarship is awarded annually to qualifying students who are enrolled in the University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Architecture and Community Development.
ABOUT THE VOLTERRA STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP
Britto Charette scholarships are awarded to students enrolled at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture and Community Development who show an aptitude for excellence and innovation in architecture and who have demonstrated the necessary requirements.
At Britto Charette, we firmly believe in traveling internationally to achieve a higher standard of design perspective. We established the Volterra Study Abroad Scholarship to foster a love of travel and learning among today’s University of Detroit Mercy students who will be tomorrow’s great architects and designers.
SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
We are pleased to announce that this year’s winners, Taylor Myers and Finley Booth, are currently completing their study abroad experience in Volterra, Italy. Their academic achievements and ambitions in the field of architecture inspired our team. We are pleased to share a little bit about each of them below. Stay tuned for updates from the recipients about their studies in Italy. Congratulations to Taylor and Finley!

WHY BRITTO CHARETTE CREATED THE SCHOLARSHIP
In 1995, David Allan Charette studied in Volterra and Florence Italy as part of the University of Detroit Mercy’s Volterra Study Abroad program.
“Participating in the Volterra program was inspiring. Coming from a rural town and with limited resources, I was able to see the buildings, archeological sites, and art museums that I had previously only read about and dreamed of visiting. It fueled my desire to learn, to push myself, and to create.
Missing out on an opportunity to study in Poland because I couldn’t afford the miscellaneous expenses inspired me to help other students who might be at a financial disadvantage like I was. I’m so honored to be at a point in my career where I can help students who aspire to be great architects and designers participate in this international educational experience. My hope is that this scholarship will provide an opportunity for generations of deserving students.”
