Miami is about more than beaches and nightlife and balmy weather. That’s right, as amazing as those attributes are, for design lovers like us, there’s an equally fantastic reason to visit our Magic City: the burgeoning art scene.
Thanks to Art Basel Miami, South Florida has earned its place as an art and design destination. We’d go so far as to say that the annual international art fair, part of Miami Art Week, has established Miami as THE place to be in December.
We love the impact of art in our community. From the gorgeously graffitied Wynwood Walls to the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and the RUBELL art museum, Miami boasts a plethora of opportunities for art seekers.
One of our team’s favorites to visit? The NADER SCULPTURE PARK. Nestled in Miami’s Design District, the park is an exhibition of worldclass monumental sculptures. From Julio Larraz and Soraya Abu Naba’A to Rachel Valdes and Bernar Venet, there’s something for everyone.
Recently, David Allan Charette visited the park and shared some of his favorite finds with us. He’s a big fan of Fernando Botero and his playfully rounded sculptures and so he was thrilled to discover that the park is brimming with Botero’s work. And David happened to be there when the light was perfect, so take a look at what piqued his interest:
