IN-PROGRESS

Sutton Tower

Our Britto Charette team of interior designers is proud to announce that we have completed a full floor plate design at NYC’s coveted SUTTON TOWER. Located at 430 58 Street, the stunning limestone high rise designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen soars 850 feet, is billed as “the East side’s tallest waterfront tower” and boasts commanding views.

Britto Charette was tasked with creating an interior design for our clients’ penthouse on the 71st floor. We’re honored to share that this is the third interior design we have completed for them and we’re thrilled to share in the joy of their first home in NYC. Their penthouse affords 360-views of the city, Central Park, and East River, so it was really exciting for us to showcase them and to take advantage of the natural light that suffuses every room. Taking light, shadows, and changing seasons into account, our designers crafted an interior design that focuses on neutrals that emphasize rather than compete with those incomparable views.

When our clients asked for a modern design that would feel like a true home away from home while in NY, we knew exactly how to proceed.  We worked hard to elevate aspects of their daily living into a sophisticated design. For example, we created a custom bench for the foyer that is perfect for taking in the views while removing shoes upon entering the residence.

Creating a sense of arrival is a hallmark of our Britto charette designs, so when our clients said they wanted a “wow” factor as you enter their home, we took advantage of the 14’ ceiling in the foyer by suspending a fantastic chandelier over a custom-size commissioned table from Ralph Pucci. We added commissioned art and photos and a beautiful handcrafted custom rug to complete the foyer. Amber and burnt orange colors provided the color theme, and we carried that palette into the great room with its amber accessories.

A showstopping bespoke bar creates a beautiful addition to the dining area, helping it double as an entertainment zone. We worked closely with our clients on this configuration in order to honor their request that they have ample seating for large family gatherings and entertaining. We then added seating areas to the great room—one for watching TV with the family and the other for larger or more formal gatherings. The fireplace came with the penthouse but was plain and tiled. We transformed it by incorporating custom millwork and marble. Now it serves as a sculptural feature element in the great room.

Custom furniture abounds in this residence, including headboards, beds, and nightstands. And we’ve added luxurious furnishings throughout that were selected from Arravanti, Ralph Pucci, and other high-end brands. Gorgeous drapery from Maris Decorations lends softness to the design. We also added custom millwork throughout the residence, knife-edge details to the high ceilings, and helped our clients curate their art and display a swoon-worthy collection of guitars.

We hope you love this Sutton Tower Penthouse design as much as we do. It was an honor for us to complete and deliver the luxurious residential interior design to our clients. We’d like to thank them for entrusting us with their home and for allowing us to share the design details with you.

We would also like to thank the General Contractor, AB Construction, for helping our Britto Charette team realize this incredible interior design.
