If it’s January, it’s design time in Paris, and Britto Charette principal and interior designer Jay Britto was on hand to discover the best that French designers have to offer. From textiles to wallcoverings, Jay found the latest trends in interior design that lean on traditional craftsmanship techniques. Read on to learn what caught Jay’s attention at Paris Deco Off.
WHAT IS PARIS DECO OFF
Since 2010, Paris Deco Off has provided visitors to Paris and the Maison&Objet tradeshow with the opportunity to learn about the latest textiles, trims, and wallcoverings. Normally open only to design industry professionals, during Paris Deco Off, showrooms open their doors to the public in an educational and vibrant display of the best of French craftsmanship.

PARIS DECO OFF 2025
FASHION was the theme for Paris Deco Off 2025. During a four-day extravaganza, the city known for its impeccable taste shared more than 150 brands in three distinct locations. One of Jay’s favorite locations was le19M. Jay was invited by the Invisible Collection to visit the famed maisons within le19M, and found many design inspirations for our projects.
HISTORY OF le19M
According to the le19M website, “Home to a community of nearly 700 artisans and experts whose excellence serves the vision of creators every day, le19M reasserts Paris’s role as a centre of creativity and creation.
A place for work, transmission, and conservation of heritage, le19M is the culmination of a process that began in 1985, when CHANEL bought the first workshops and art manufactures that it worked with in order to preserve and cultivate their savoir-faire.
Bridging the 19th arrondissement of Paris and the town of Aubervilliers, this unique 25,500 m² site was created at the initiative of CHANEL. The name of the site is highly symbolic: 19 represents both the arrondissement where the site is located and one of Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite numbers. The M stands for Mode (fashion), Mains (hands), Métiers d’art (Crafts), Maisons (houses) and Manufactures.”
MAISONS AT le19M
The maisons within le19M include: Atelier Montex, Desrues, Eres, Goossens, Lemarié, Lesage, Lesage Intérieurs, les Ateliers Lognon, Maison Michel, Massaro, Paloma, and Studio MTX.
“The concept of le19M is really extraordinary. To keep alive the special craft traditions is important. This is a legacy of craftsmanship that is archived, showcased, celebrated, and taught—all under one roof.”
--Jay Britto, principal at Britto Charette

LEMARIÉ
On one of his first stops, Jay visited Lemarie, a maison specializing in featherwork, fabric flowers, and needlework. Part of the CHANEL house, the teams at Lemarie have taken their exquisite craft from haute couture to interior decoration. Jay discovered ways for Britto Charette to collaborate with Lemarie on upcoming projects and we are excited for what the future will bring for our clients.
STUDIO MTX
Architectural embroidery is the specialty of STUDIO MTX. Jay was fascinated with the studio’s use of metal to fabricate exquisite screens, panels, and furniture embellishments.

LESAGE INTERIEURS
Lesage Interieurs crafts hand-embroidered textiles of the highest caliber. Jay was especially intrigued by the embroidered wall panels and said there are many possible applications for the textiles in living rooms, bedrooms, and more. Our minds are spinning with ideas for collaborations between our studios.

GOOSSENS
Known for its one-of-a-kind jewelry, Goossens has taken its craft to home décor. From lighting to decorative wall accessories and fixtures, the brand is elevating interiors with its signature style. We love the melding of gilded brass and natural rock crystal.

2025 TEXTILE AND FURNITURE TRENDS
While viewing the latest collections, Jay Britto noticed several new trends in interior design. One of them? Less white boucle. “I’m seeing more chenille, velvet, and mohair in rich earth tones. Texture is really a crucial aspect of interior design and the latest trends in furniture and textiles are capitalizing on it.”
Another trend in French furniture is the softer, rounder, curvier lines. “Parisienne designers are creating decidedly sensuous lines in their furniture—a distinctive difference from the more angled lines we’re seeing from the Italian designers.”
2025 WALLCOVERING TRENDS
Wallcoverings have come a long way since those busy floral patterns that adorned the walls at Grandma’s house. The high-end wallcoverings of powerhouses like de Gournay are reshaping the way we look at decorating interiors. At Britto Charette, we install wallcoverings in most of our projects, so Jay was really excited to see some of the latest luxurious collections. From hand painted papers to fabrics, the latest iterations are nothing short of spectacular. But one technique that really caught Jay’s attention? The embroidered—yes, embroidered! —wallcovering from de Gournay.

It’s a great way to meet with the craftspeople and to discover their new collections. Especially important for teams like ours who want to find those really special products for clients.” –Jay Britto, principal at Britto Charette
